Michell lives with me, she is nine years old, ended fourth grade and now is in fifth grade, she had difficulties in mathematics, I try to help her, but I hardly see her in the afternoon because, I work all day for that, she stays alone at home but I try to give her all my support.

Dear Godfather Richard,

I'm writing to you from a Colombian little place and saying hi to you and your family and of course say thanks for your collaboration with my studies.

During this school year some of my grades weren't the best, but with my effort I could improve it in the end.

During October we had a break week and in those days was Ibague's birthday and The Children Dance National Meeting, this competition had participants from different Colombian places like Caldas, Quindio, Magdalena, Risaralda, Boyaca, etc. And I liked this too much because I made new friends from Risaralda.

On Halloween I went with my brother to Ibague's downtown, we asked for candies and we collected a lot of them and we spent a great time.

For improving my English I am attending extra classes, because of this my grades were better in school.

My school was registered in Guinness record and we had to dance during half an hour but if somebody stop to dance we are automatically removed. It is a national competition and are 600 schools in total, so we are practicing a lot every day to win the competence.

I was a little sick with flu and fever, my mom took to me to the doctor and he said it was a lung virus and I had to take a rest and waiting for feel myself better.

On November 17th, we had a ceremony and the students of last year gave the institutional symbols to the other students. After this we had different sport championships like football, volleyball and swimming.

I wish to know about your life, how you have been? How is your job? I would like to meet you and tell you how much you special are for me.

I have done the taekwondo trainings in the afternoon and in the nights, and thanks to my performance, I have been preselected for a world championship in Egypt. In my free time i was practicing taekwondo and i have gotten some medals, a silver medal in a club event and a gold medal in a municipal event, through this sport i have known a lot of people and tourist places.

My name is Angie Katherine Vidal, I am 16 years old, I am in tenth grade in ENSI, I live with my grandmother and my uncle, because my aunt bought house so she live with my cousin and my little brother

I have two brothers one of them of 13 years old and the other of 15 years old, and I love them. My brother of 15 years old lives in Bucaramanga from 2 years ago with my aunt (my mom´s sister) and my brother of 13 years old lives with my aunt (my dad´s sister)

I tell you my dream is study law, i wish to help to my brothers with their dreams and desires, I love listen music genres such as rock, metal, ska and pop, i love eat chocolates and I love share each moment with my family. I’m a girl who strive to achieve my goals, I am a persistent person, my big fault is that I am person with temper because I am perfectionist but, I can take control of that.

the last year was an eventful year for example the change of school, i felt weird for that change, but I made new friends, specially one of them named Christian Herrera, that boy is awesome is more that a friend, is like my eldest brother because he takes care of me, helps me, advices me, he is a super friend, thanks to him, I have adapted to new school although was hard due to the methodology but this year one of my purposes is be the best in everything, in my school, my house, etc.

I had a good end of the year because I was in company of family and close friends who shared happiness and experience with me during the year and the purposes for this New Year. I started this year visiting new and beautiful places for example, the Payande waterfalls, that place is amazing; also I visited Honda, is a town where there are landscapes and animals that I had never seen before.

During this year I hoist flag for be a good classmate, good behavior and good grades in socials, chemistry, Spanish and English

I was one of the best students because I had the second place in a classroom of 35 students but I promise you, get the first place if the lord is willing and if I can still receiving your help.

Our school is commercial for that reason we had to make a business practice of 240 hours that ended in September and we had to do social service that i did in the environmental police, in this place I learned many things about the environment. The social service was about 180 hours and ended on November 18

For the next year I have thought studying systems, the Saturday’s morning, I tell you that my father finally got a job for a year as gardener and my little sister is 5 years old and she will start to study.

My maternal grandmother homeowner in which we live, she is diabetic and hypertensive and for that diseases she need a medical process named hemodialysis but with the help of god we have progressed.

During the last year many things happened, one of the most important things was that I graduated but at the same time I felt sadness because I don’t going to see again to my friends and my classroom mates but I felt so good in the eleventh grade

The last year was great. We review a lot for an exam called ICFES, the exam day was on September 4th I was nervous but I lost the fear during the exam and I did the exam far away of my house the same day, they told us that the results will be published in internet on October 15th

While we waited the results my family was preparing the wedding of my sister Nancy and her fiancé Jhon Fredi.

After of this the results came, was not the expected, I got 42 points and in interdisciplinary 55 points but the important is don´t give up and continue with my other merits. We were ready for end the scholar year and i was excited for my graduation and little tired because SENA asked us many requirements and many tests but with good scores i graduated as technician.The wedding day, everyone was excited specially bride, could you imagine the great happiness that we felt that day? When we saw my sister organizes her love life with a good person. From the YMCA headquarter attended Mrs. Nancy and Mrs. Luz Aida; Mrs. Nelly couldn't attend that day by familial reasons

During the graduation ceremony, some people were in tears that day, but tears of happiness and melancholy for be the last time that we be together, i graduated with a blue toga and the room of the event was pretty elegant

I hope you are healthy, I don't know where start, but i can tell you that I’m happy and satisfied because I finished a stage of my life "my graduation" was a unique and unforgettable experience. my parents were there, i felt so excited and my parents were so proud of me when i was named as the best graduate and i received the medal, then of that, i felt a chill of happiness to know that now am graduate but I knew that what´s next is not going to be easy.

although i got a medal for be the best graduate I feel a little sad because my ICFES score (state proof) was 47%, lower than my expectations and that score is not the requested for study the career that I want, which is: languages and international business i think that is a excellent career but is necessary a good score for go to college, my parents are aware is not easy but they says "the good things are not easy" therefore we need to fight for what you want. This is hard for me because we don´t have the necessary resources for pay a college enrolment and I’ll be half-year doing anything. For that reason i enrolled in SENA to study business administration some similar to international business. But all is not bad; i studied English in University Cooperative of Ibague thanks to a scholarship and my parents like always very proud of me.

But obviously my previous studies were thanks to your help, with your economical resources, I am here thanks to you, I feel proud because I have an excellent and gentle person in my life like you. Thank you so much

thanks to your support I could enter into a higher education and I managed to successfully undertake the first half of Financial Management, for me, has been a very rewarding experience because I have met many people and the academic standards required of me is a lot. I've learned too many new skills that become new challenges to overcome, but my desire to study is huge and my greatest wish is to succeed in this profession to be a professional and comprehensive. I am so sadden with you for the difficulties I had this semester in mathematics and calculus but I promise you this semester I am going to retake this course, because, this does not affect or interfere with the next academic year.
The truth is very satisfying for me to have the YMCA-YMCA family, because he has provided friendship, support and a great education in values that make me the person I am today, and you have been sponsors of this training, I am happiness to thank you for this vote of confidence for my future and my family.
The last year, thanks to the YMCA I had the opportunity to go to Cartagena, it is a very beautiful city in the north Coast of Colombia when I could know the sea and many cultures and gastronomy, although the sea food dislike me, I enjoyed. Also I went to many camps as mission camp, HORYZON camp, and national meeting of volunteers. I tell you that this year was very sad for my family and me because my sister died from the disease of cancer, despite all efforts were in vain and can not stand the pain of the disease leaving a void in our hearts irreparable. To this is added the absence of my mother for financial reasons, she arrives too late for the funeral. This fills me with mixed feelings, anxiety, sadness and happiness at seeing long after my mother.

With this university career I have realized the thing value that is to have entered to the university because is a opportunity that very few they have. With the entrance to the University of Tolima I have achieved make many friends and awesome moments, I have known teachers that make me feel wonderful feeling for my career, I have lived good and bad moments that have carried me to grew every day like a professional.
About the fifth semester was a little more difficult than the previous ones, because is it the semester that opens the way to practice like teacher to face this big challenge.
Respect of YMCA, I tell you its physical plant is very well, because it was wanted to be in the best conditions for Bettina take the best impression. About Bettina’s visit was very nice, fill of happiness because we share experiences between youth and adults, we took many pictures, really was amazing day, Bettina in her visit she was very interested to know how I was up going at the university, to know how was my family everything to bring you the best news.
As you know the city where I am living is Ibague that is The Colombian Musical City, is a beautiful city, because we are in time of Christmas, it is decorated with many Christmas lights forming different shapes this is really beautiful. Also, I had the chance to know famous Colombian writers and others from abroad. We learned the value of writing and reading and I’m very happy with my career and I’d love to continue with it, in order to teach all that I learn to Colombian child in a future.Besides, I shared plenty activities with my teammates and we managed to organize the fair of the book in the University of Tolima, and we have to opportunity to acquire some important books for our career.

This semester was really hard and there were some difficult subjects but thanks to God I managed to overcome those difficulties because I didn’t want to disappoint you and the people who have believed in me. Let me share with you the reason of my happiness because I just finished my school and I reached my graduation from high school this year, it was very special for me and my family.

My mother has been a little sick but thanks to God now she is better. My brothers Duvan, Natalia and Tatiana are now in holidays, and everybody got very good grades in the school. Edna, my other sister finished the high school as me, and my brother Miguel Angel is now working as a watchman.

My family is very happy because it's Christmas, everybody put lights l in a Christmas tree and my younger brothers dream whit a gift from Child God, we thank God for find us together in this beautiful season. On December 8th my three brothers made the first communion was a nice event, my mom and we organized a luncheon to celebrate the reception of God.

First of all, I want you to know that this year was really good in my scholar life, I finished the ninth grade of high school and I’ll be studying in tenth grade the next year. All of this wouldn’t be possible without the support that you’ve given to me during these years, which has allowed me to count with the elements required for my study. The fact of counting with your economic, personal and academic support is the best thing that ever happened to me, that’s why I thank to God everyday.

My family is very grateful with the support that you have been given to me, and due to the poor economic condition of my family, I’m feeling proud because with my job of weekends and vacations I’ve been able to collaborate to improve a little that situation.

This year, I participated in English lessons by means of the YMCA, and also I was involved in formatives speeches that allow me to the personal growth. Also I would love to receive a letter from you, and to have the possibility of meeting you, even though in pictures, I don’t lose that illusion.

Of my country, I can tell you that it’s beautiful at this season of the year, but we have a crude winter that has bring terrible consequences like overflows of several rivers destroying cultivations, situation that doesn’t help with the economic situation and represent new difficulties for Colombian families.

By means of this letter, I want to thank you for all the help that you have gave me during all this years that I’ve been studying.; thanks to people like you with such noble heart, today, I managed to reach the first step of my dreams. Also, I want to let you know that I’ll be graduating of high school on December 11, and I’ve accomplish this goal with effort and dedication in order to correspond to your effort supporting me. People from YMCA and God’s will, have given me wisdom to become in one of the best students of my prom.

For everything that I’ve previously mentioned, I come to you because you have become a bless in my life, to tell you to not take back your support, because how I said before, this is just the firs step in my life, and my biggest dream is to enter to the university in order to become a successful nurse because I think that my intellectual skills will allow me to reach that goal. But the economic situation of my family is not good, so I’m asking again for your help and support, and I want you to know that I will be entirely committed to correspond with excellence your good will.

Please receive a lovely greeting from me and my family, whishing for you to be healthy, happy and peacefully. By means of this letter I want to share some feelings with you, also, tell you some things about my life. First of all, I want to thank you for believe in me, for giving me your support and for allow me to be a better person, for giving me the possibility to have an education and for gift to my life a light of faith and hope when everything was turning dark.

Your support has mean a lot to me, not only for the economic part but you also have given me a personal and spiritual support that bring great responsibility to work and to give all my effort to reach good academic results, and that’s how I just had finished successfully the ninth year of high school, and the next year I’ll be in tenth, which I expect to approved in the best way.

Besides, I want to tell you my wish for continue with my studies, and someday become a professional through a career in the university which is my big goal and I’ll fight for it, asking to God for help and wishing that your support will continue until then. Dear godmother, I hope your family and you are good; I want to tell you that I’m really happy because I approved the scholar year and there’s only one year left to enter to university and I’m really looking forward to it because I want to be a great professional so I can help my little sister to study and to have a good future.

In the road of life, we have to face many situations that cause us different feelings like happiness, sadness or fear, but definitely, there are moments, people and situations that light up that road, amazing people that give us faith and hope. My life has seen a light of hope because I found such lovely family as YMCA and counting with you as a godmother. It has become in a motivation for me, thinking in a better future.

With faith and with this idea, I work everyday, and I put my effort in my academic activities in order to reach the best results, and that’s how this year I got great grades in all the subjects and the next year I’ll be in eight year of high school.

Besides, I have the conviction of growth as a person, and take advantage of the academic opportunities that my institution offers, also, I’m learning contemporary dance with the YMCA.

After sharing some feelings and thoughts with you, there’s only left to thank you for your economic and spiritual support, because it would be impossible to get through many obstacles without it, and I’m sure it will help me to reach many other goals.
